A Canva background remover alternative for photo cutouts
BgClear can remove a photo background before you place the result into a design. It is free to use without a BgClear account, but it does not replace Canva's layout, presentation or collaboration tools.

Create a cutout in BgClearRemove the background first, then design
- Select a JPG, PNG or WebP photo in BgClear and wait for processing.
- Inspect the subject's edges and important details. Avoid using a result that removes part of the subject.
- Change Background to Transparent and keep Format set to PNG. The main tool starts with White selected, so a PNG download is not automatically transparent.
- Download the PNG, then import that file into your Canva design using its image-upload workflow.
- Place the cutout on the intended background and check for halos before exporting your finished design.
The local-processing boundary ends when you choose to upload the result elsewhere. Importing a cutout into Canva is a separate action governed by Canva's terms and data practices.

Compare your downloaded results fairly
Use the same originals in both tools: a portrait, an opaque product and a difficult image. Compare the outputs at the same displayed size on light and dark backgrounds. Record missing details, halos, output dimensions and any cleanup required.
Time the first model download separately from repeat processing. A result on one device or image type does not demonstrate equal quality or speed across all photos. No head-to-head benchmark is claimed here.
Common export questions
Why is the background still white?
Check that you selected Transparent in BgClear before downloading. A PNG can contain either transparent pixels or an opaque white background. Some viewers also display transparent files against white.
Can I use JPG for the cutout?
Not if you need transparency. Export PNG for a transparent cutout; use JPG after adding a fixed background.
Does BgClear replace the Canva editor?
No. It provides background removal and color fill, not Canva's full design workspace. Choose the tools that fit your actual task.
