A Photoroom alternative for simple photo cutouts
If your job is to remove the background from a photo and export it on white or transparent, BgClear provides a free browser-based workflow. It is not a replacement for an entire product-photography editor.

Try a product photo in BgClearPrepare a product cutout without a BgClear account
- Use a sharp photo with visible contrast between the product and its background.
- Select the photo in BgClear and allow the model to load and process it locally.
- Review the edges, handles, gaps and any product details that must remain visible.
- Choose White for a white-background export, or Transparent and PNG for reuse in another editor.
JPG cannot preserve transparency. Check the marketplace's current image requirements separately; changing the background alone does not guarantee that a listing image meets them.
Where the workflows differ
| Need | BgClear's scope | What to evaluate elsewhere |
|---|---|---|
| Background removal and color fill | Local processing, solid-color fill, PNG/JPG/WebP export and no added watermark. | Test the same original and inspect the downloaded result. |
| Small manual batches | Up to 20 images selected on the main tool, processed sequentially. | Check the current batch interface, limits and export conditions on the plan you use. |
| Broader studio workflow | No generated product scenes, shared project library or team seats. | Evaluate the current Photoroom editor for the additional features you need. |
| Programmatic processing | No hosted BgClear API. | Check a provider's current API documentation, terms and usage costs. |
Visit Photoroom to check the current product and plan details. This guide does not assert a particular monthly allowance, price or watermark restriction. Those can vary across products and plans.
Check quality before processing a catalog
Use several representative photos: an opaque product, a white item on a pale background, fine detail and a difficult case such as glass. Compare downloaded outputs on a dark and light background at the same displayed size.
Record missing parts, halos, export dimensions and any manual cleanup required. BgClear can struggle with translucent objects, logos, stickers and text. Do not assume a larger model fixes every difficult image, and do not infer that either tool is more accurate without testing.
For a timing comparison, record first-use model loading separately from repeat processing. On an older phone, start with one photo before attempting a batch.
Image handling is one consideration, not the whole decision
BgClear's removal workflow processes your selected photo locally. The site still downloads assets and may make advertising requests. For any other service, review the current terms for the specific editor or API you use rather than assuming a retention period or training policy.
